Michael Romero joined The Evanston Group as President and Chief Revenue Officer in December 2019. He is responsible for driving the company’s vision and long-term growth strategy while overseeing day-to-day management for sales, marketing, operations, finance and recruitment.
He brings to the company over three decades of executive leadership and deep understanding of strategic management, digital transformation, and experience leading mission-critical initiatives with global impact.
As President, Michael is focused on positioning The Evanston Group to accelerate impact and outreach among life sciences companies by providing the high caliber consultants and hard-to-find talent necessary to solve some of the toughest challenges and most urgent needs. These companies count on The Evanston Group to find the expertise and new-generation thinking that enhances their processes, systems and approaches for developing new disease treatment options, life-saving drugs, game-changing medical devices and the development of patient-centric and personalized medicine therapies. Michael is evolving and scaling processes to grow the business and improve the already high 95%+ consultant match-rate the company delivers.
Over the course of his career, Michael has driven extensive growth for a diverse array of organizations from startup and entrepreneurial companies to global leaders like Deloitte, SAP, Ingram Micro, SanDisk, and HCL, with revenues spanning $5B to over $40B annually.
He possesses a track record of accomplishment transforming businesses and motivating diverse global teams to achieve significant results in terms of expanding market share, exceeding business goals and financial objectives profitably, and improving enterprise valuations.
Immediately prior to joining The Evanston Group, Michael headed the SAP Global Practice at HCL, a worldwide technology leader. There, the CEO engaged him to lead the turnaround team of a $700M systems integrator acquisition in the wake of two failed attempts. Michael led the team that restored viability while nearly tripling pipeline. The undertaking won the 2018 SAP® Pinnacle Award: GSSP SAP Business Transformation Partner of The Year.
He also has been instrumental in identifying and creating new markets. At SanDisk, while Vice President and General Manager of the Mobile Retail Division, Michael and his team reimagined the consumer experience by introducing mobile memory as the industry was evolving from mobile to smartphones.
His leadership and marketing campaigns grew the mobile retail business from $100M in revenue and 90K store fronts to $720M in revenue and expansion to 250K store fronts in 110 countries in two years. By securing strategic distribution exclusivities, his team helped capture MicroSD memory card market share of 42% globally and 74% across North America.
In addition to driving results, Michael is equally committed to mentorship and developing diverse, cohesive teams where people can shine and thrive. He describes paying it forward as building strong teams and giving people the space to be successful.
Michael is an avid traveler having visited 49 countries and six continents. Dedicated to family, he treasures time with his wife of 30+ years, two daughters, and four granddaughters.
